Here are two ideas, although both are no longer prisons and instead open to public tours:
Alcatraz - San Francisco, California, USA
Robben Island - Cape Town, South Africa (this is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years out of the 27 years he was incarcerated)
