In response to my previous post, HAVE YOU SEEN the most popular names of 2006?

It's getting frusterating to me to people are mentioning names such as "Olivia" or "Hailey" or "Brayden" or " Aidan" as different and unique...Have you seen the list of the most popular names of 2006?








And while I'm here, what's people's hang up about being teased...Kids are going to be teased about their names, personalities, looks no matter what...even if they have "common" names.

Gak. Yeah, I admit. I do have that hangup. And kids are evil, so they find one no matter what...but why give 'em the added ammo?





And I noticed the name Paige (my name) is now on the list, after years of having a 'weird' name. Go, figure.





And it also bugs me that people are mentioning names that have been around for hundreds of years as 'different' and 'unique'. It amuses me.
Reply:I know what you mean... I just had a son on 1/1/07, and named him Chase. My biggest fear is that next year that name is in the top 20... I'm not trying to be trendy, I chose a name I've loved for a very long time, and I didn't want a weird spelling, just a simple classic but not too common (or too uncommon) name. Is that too much to ask!!!
Reply:LOL...i agree, thats why i never answer any baby name questions, at least rarely. my names are Mazzy Jones for a girl, and Eli Alberic for a boy.

If you look actually all names ending in that "ADEN" or Ayden sound are very popular right now. Aiden, Hayden, Payton, Jaden etc.... Emily and Jacob continue to dominate though!

Reply:I think the most over used name's are Tyler, MaKenzie, MaKayla Jazmine, Kayden, and Brookelyn or any name that people decide to add an extra letter or change it to another one and the poor child will have to correct peolpe on the spelling for the rest of his/her life. Please be kind to the poor child or they might just end up paying the $250 to have it changed.

Anyone can make up a silly nickname for any name and tease the kids about it, there is no stopping children, they are evil

Reply:Nope I haven't seen the list yet but i will. And I don't think that the names : Olivia or Hailey or Brayden or Aidan are unique or weird . Actually, the name Olivia is from a show i watch called Law %26amp; Order: Special Victuims Unit. You've probably heard about it.

I agree with you. No matter what, your child's name is going to get made fun of! My name is Bryn (was uncommon at the time) and was ALWAY made fun of...everyone either called me Bryan or Burn! PRONOUNCED BREN!!! My sister's name was Kiel (like Kyle) and my other sister's name is Kady. We hated our names growing up, now we wouldn't change them for the world! lol
