Any thoughts on the name Mohammed being the 2nd most popular baby boy's name in the UK?
And it looks as if it will be THE most popular baby boy's name by the end of 2007. Is this significant in light of Colonel Gaddafi saying "There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe, without guns, without swords, without conquests. The 50 million Muslims in Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent in three decades." (Al Jazeera TV)

i think i read something about this weeks/months ago where some of the tabloids blew it all up out of proportion trying to stir things up, it is about it rapidly growing in popularity rather than actually being top at this point.
as to what Gaddafi said i think what will actually happen is that muslims in Europe will integrate more, as have many other peoples and religions..
it may seem hard to believe just now, but in reality just because radical Islam and muslim fanatics are what makes the news, the truth is that most muslims are moderate and tolerant in their adherence to Islam..

Actually God is in control. Satan may try and deceive men through various plausible philosophies and ideas, but God's desire is for people to receive salvation through faith in Christ. But this is not forced on people. It is often the case historically that when Satan's schemes seem likely to succeed, God just utterly changes things by His Spirit.

It seems to me that you're taking a whole group of people and putting them into one, hateful category.
The fact that you quote-marked 'poor' indicates that you're totally unwilling to understand people on an individual level.

What was the name of the MOST popular girl/guy you knew growing up?
Just for fun: You remember him/her... Maybe it was you ;) But every school had them... The most popular girl. Everyone wanted to be her, look like her... There she was grades, head cheerleader, Prom Queen... There he was quarterback... all the girls loved him... They made the rest of us clueless for the most part.
Here we are on this name blog always asking zillions of questions on our childs names. Wondering if our choices of names will mold our little guy or girl in life, hinder them or help them.
I thought it would be fun to ask this question.. See the responses and the names of these 'popular' kids. Perhaps maybe we will have a better grasp at this name game... If not atleast we'll have a little fun :)
Where I came from:

Here we are on this name blog always asking zillions of questions on our childs names. Wondering if our choices of names will mold our little guy or girl in life, hinder them or help them.
I thought it would be fun to ask this question.. See the responses and the names of these 'popular' kids. Perhaps maybe we will have a better grasp at this name game... If not atleast we'll have a little fun :)
Where I came from:
Popular girl - Besty Jo (what a name now that I think of it... lol)

What are the most popular baby names in the United Kingdom of Great Britain?
I have seen the movie Great Expectations and was thinking that a name to identify a child with a British family would be, Pip. I have also seen Little Lord Fauntleroy so Cedric is also a good British name. Alistair seems to be rather popular as well (remembering As Time Goes By with Dame Judi Dench).
Hmm...Dame...Dame Diana Rigg was really hot when she was young. There is nothing like a dame nothing in the world -Oscar Hammerstein II (South Pacific)
What are the most popular baby names in the United Kingdom of Great Britain?
For a boy Edward, Thomas, William and Henry
For a girl Mary, Elizabeth, Heather or Beatrice
Reply:George, David, and James for boys and Elizabeth, Mary for ladies.

Name the 5 most popular rap artists?
Jay-Z
P-Diddy
Lil-John
50 Cent
Eminem
Name the 5 most popular rap artists?
1. 2pac R.I.P. 1971 - 1996
Born in Brooklyn, Tupac Shakur moved to Baltimore then to Marin City, California before the age of 16, where he began to sell drugs. 2pac recorded five albums between 1992 and his death in September 1996, including the first Hip-Hop double album. Eight more albums were released after his death, made up of mostly unreleased songs. The first album that was released after his death, "The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory", was made up of twelve tracks that were recorded in only seven days. 2pac is the highest selling Hip-Hop artist ever. He was shot and killed in a drive by in Las Vegas, Nevada after watching a Mike Tyson fight. Many believe it had to do with his relation to gangs and his feud with New York rapper Notorious B.I.G.
2. Jay-Z
Jay-Z, being raised in Brooklyn's Marcy Project Housing and living in a fatherless household, Shawn Carter began selling crack in his early teens. Jay-Z has released nine albums and just retired after releasing "The Black Album" this past November. Arguably, he became the King of New York after the murder of Notorious B.I.G and is said to be the greatest rapper alive by many. He, along with friends Damon Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke, built a dynasty with Roc-a-Fella Records and have started a clothing company, film company, and several childrens foundations for inner-city youths.
3. Eminem
Marshall Mathers isn't the first white rapper but his music is still considered very controversial not only because he's considered one of the best lyricists but also because of the homophobic, and violent things he raps of. He released three albums so far in his career. Coming from Detroit, Eminem was discovered by Dr. Dre in 1998 after being heard freestyling on a Los Angeles radio station and recorded his 1999 debut, "The Slim Shady LP". In 2002 Dr. Dre and Eminem signed 50 Cent, who went on to sell 9 million records of his debut album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'". He also starred in "8 Mile", a movie loosely based on his life.
4. Nas
Nasir Jones hails from the Queensbridge Housing Projects in Queens, New York. At the age of 20 Nas released his Hip-Hop classic debut album Illmatic and was called one of the best lyricists in the Rap game. He's released seven albums since 1994. In 2001, Jay-Z dissed Nas in a song called "Takeover" and Nas responded with the best diss in the beef with "Ether". After several more disses and the end of the beef, the streets voted Nas the winner. He's currently working on his double album said to drop this summer entitled "Street's Disciple".
5. Notorious B.I.G. R.I.P. 1973 - 1997
Christopher Wallace was raised in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. The former drug dealer would freestyle in the streets and through his friendship with DJ Mister Cee he was introduced to Sean "Puffy" Combs. His debut in 1994, "Ready to Die", was an instant classic. Tupac was going to record a song in the same building where Biggie and Puffy were also in and he was shot five times in the lobby. After, Tupac accused Biggie and Puffy of setting him up and the war had started. Tupac had dissed Notorious B.I.G. many times but he never responded. Tupac was killed in September 1996 and people immediately assumed it had to do with Biggie. Biggie was shot and murdered in a drive by shooting in Los Angeles six months later.

3. Eminem

What are the most popular, higher priced top 3 names in each type of liquor?
I have an interview at a higher end nightclub as a cocktail waitress. My friend that works there said I needed to know the top 3 brands in each category of liquor. I have the interview this afternoon and I need help fast! Thanks
What are the most popular, higher priced top 3 names in each type of liquor?
First off, smirnoff is cheap garbage made in Connecticut(sorry, Lady J). Ketel One, Grey Goose, Stoli, and Absolut for Vodka
For Gin, Tanquerey and Bombay Sapphire (The name is Bombay Sapphire, there is not a Bombay and a "Saffire" - again, sorry Lady J), followed by Hendricks or Booths or Boodles.
Rum - Bacardi, Meyers, and 10 Cane. Captain Morgan is a cheap spiced rum. Pyrat from Anguilla is very high end.
Scotch - There are two kinds, Blended and Single Malt. For Blended, Johnny Walker is the most popular higher end brand, but there is (in order) Red, Black, Gold and Blue Label versions, with Red being the least expensive and Blue being the most (Blue can be $200 a bottle). Chivas Is another good name.
There are 1,000 Single Malts, but Macallan, Johny Walker Green, and Laphroig are well known.
For Bourbon, it would be Makers Mark, Gentleman Jack, Woodford, and Booker's.
For Tequila, it's Patron, Cuervo, and Cabo Wabo
Reply:vodka - smirnoff, absolute, grey goose
gin - tanquerray, bombay, saffire
rum - bacardi, meyers, captain morgan
for starters...too long of an answer

18th birthday party, what alcoholic drink is the most popular to do you think name about 5 please? x?
For an 18th I would get in plenty of beer, Jack Daniels (with Coke), wine - mainly white and rose, some sparkly wine (prosecco, cava, a few of the Australian companies do good ones, or champagne if you can afford it), bacardi breezers (tacky but popular), and vodka - again with coke or diet coke, though get in a range of mixers. You could also set up a few jugs of cocktails like Harvey Wallbangers and Black Russians - you can find recipes for these and many others online.

There was also three Emily's, four Jacob's, three (I think) Ethan's, one Rylin (a girl), one Orion[not sure if that is spelled right], a set of twins Jennifer and Melissa, and another Samuel.

Once you account for spelling variations, Aidan, Braden and Kaden were the most popular names of 2007... hmm.
1) Aidan (Aiden, Aeden, Ayden, Aedan, Aydan, Adan)
2) Braden (Brayden, Braydan, Braeden, Braedan, Braidan, Braiden)
3) Kaden (Caden, Cayden, Caedan, Caidan, Caeden, Caiden, Kaiden, Kaidan, Kaydan, Kayden, Kadan)
And Jaden was #7.
Isn't that interesting, how -aiden names rose so suddenly?
Once you account for spelling variations, Aidan, Braden and Kaden were the most popular names of 2007... hmm.
Dude, I've been singing the Aidan hate for ever! This is my answer to a different question, but it applies here, too:
As for the -ayden names, I did the math. We had:
Aiden, Aidan, Ayden, Aden, Adan, Aydan, Aydin, Aedan, and Aidyn for 29,175 boys.
Jayden, Jaden, Jaiden, Jaydon, Jadon, Jaeden, Jadyn, Jaydin, Jaidyn, and Jaydan for 26,148 boys. We also had Jayden, Jaiden, Jaidyn, Jaden, and Jaedyn given to 5,443 girls.
Caden, Kaden, Cayden, Kayden, Kaiden, Caiden, Kadin, Kaeden, and Kadyn were given to 17,755 boys. Kayden was given to 621 girls.
Brayden, Braden, Braeden, Braydon, Braiden, Bradyn, and Braedon was bestowed on 12,748 boys.
Hayden, Haiden, and Haden was given to 6,657 boys. Hayden was given to 1,714 girls.
Thankfully, Zayden was only given to 426 boys, and Raiden was only given to 210 boys. Still, do the math. That's
**100,987**
kids named something rhyming with Aidan whose spelling is in the top thousand. I weep for humanity.
To top it off, here's some related gems in the top thousand:
Jaylen, Jalen, Jaylin, Jaylon, and Jaylan -4,618 boys.
Jada, Jayda, Jaylyn, Jaelyn, Jayla, Jailyn, Jaylah, Jaylee, Jaylen, Jaelee, Jaylynn, Jaida, and Jalynn were in for girls, totalling 14,761.
Aylin debuted, with 500 girls.
Brayan, Braylon, Brycen, and Braylen were also hits for boys, with 2,619 boys. Braylynn, Braelyn, and Brailynn had 1548 girls.
Let's see, that's 21,427 more kids named something similar to Aiden. That doesn't even include Peyton, Grayson, Jaylee, etc. There were a horrific 122,414 kids named something related to Aidan. Bad bad bad!
I have a burning hatred of these names, and keeping a detailed numerical record of them seems to help people understand how overused they are. Not that it helped, though, because in 2006, there were only 65,00 odd Aiden type names. That's almost DOUBLED in a year.
ETA: I've seen Trayden, and I think one of those multiple sets from the Midwest has a Dreyden, too.
Reply:As coolteamblt mentioned, there is also Hayden and Zayden, and I have even seen Trayden mentioned a few times here (if I am not mistaken, some B-list celebrity named her kid Trayden earlier this year--I'll have to Google it and see what comes up).

Reply:I don't know about white names, unless you mean ones that aren't ethnic in origin. If you go to the Social Security website, it gives the 1000 most popular boys and 1000 most popular girls names over the past five years. Then I guess you can just go thru and pick out "white" names, or just pick out names you like. It's kind of cool to see what people name their kids, anyway. Good luck!
